New doily

Wow - been a while since I've posted.    I've worked on smaller items, but a pinched nerve in my shoulder has kept me from stitching a lot.   But if I work for limited stretches of time I still can work.   because I use my arm less, doilies are a lot easier to do.

Latest was a gift for a friend (aren't they all?).   Last year when I visited and showed them photos of my other work and she was really amazed.  So for my visit this year I wanted to make her one of her own...  I worked on and off for 6 months (of course running behind and rushing to finish it up).  It turned out quite well - maybe make one for myself...

Pre-blocking.   This shows the color of the thread best (Ecru).   The upper left had to be washed - yes, I pricked my finger while weaving the end en and got a little blood on it  :)

Final blocked piece.   The color is antique, but the photo cam out poor so I changed it to a black and white image to bring out the contrast.  Looks a lot nicer blocked - and it was a lot bigger!!!

The gift went over well.  Although she was a little worried her mother might try to steal it  :)

Thread was Aunt Lydia, #10 in Ecru/Natural.

Pattern is Breezy Pineapple Doily, an epattern from Leisure Arts.
